Classroom management plays a very important role to the effective teacher. I believe in order to maintain a well organized classroom you must be a great manager. Some of the most important things I think for keeping an orderly classroom are, organization and constancy, showing your students you care, and creating a positive environment. (Wong & Wong, 2009)
I think organization is very, very, very important. Organization saves a lot of time. This is important because it leaves you with more time for instruction and less time for searching for things you need. This is also something that is good for your students to learn. It has been studied that students who are organized tend to make batter grades. Which makes plenty of sense because it saves you from confusion and makes you more productive. I think it also creates a less stressful environment because it is clear where everything is in the classroom. It is also important to not only have an organized physical environment but also an academic. It is important to have routines for your students to follow everyday. It is important for students to know their day will be structured, especially because they are constantly learning new things everyday so they need something that will be the same.
Showing my students I care is another important part to my classroom management philosophy. Some students live very hard lives outside of school, and have no one to support them. So it is important to show your students that you care about them and their success. I will always cheer my students on in all their endeavors. I will always do my best to show my students that they are all important individuals. I plan to greet them everyday with a smiling face to invite them into their day. It will always be my goal to make my students feel that they can do anything they set their minds too. I will always do everything in my power to help my students be successful.
Last but not least, creating a positive environment. This is a very broad idea but can be build on many factors. I plan to have a classroom where everyone in kind to one another. I want to make sure my students understand the importance of being kind and empathetic. I will have a no tolerance for bullying in my class. My hope is throughout the year that these values become instilled in my students. I hope that this is something they will carry with them throughout their lives. Another way to create a positive environment by being encouraging to the students. Always praise their hard work but acknowledge where they could do better. I believe mutual respect goes a long way. If we tell out student “treat others the way you want to be treated” we should follow that as well.
Overall, I hope that I have a successful future classroom management plan. I hope that my philosophy will always be based on these things. I do on the other hand hope that it grows. I believe after years of teaching I will have much more to add to my philosophy but I think this has been a great start.
